Virtual Flight: Navigating Through the Game

Virtual Flight is very simple to use, if you understand a few rules.
Isis, the goddess of wind, helps to transport you throughout the program, so upon entering Virtual Flight, note that the image of Isis in the clouds is in the center of your screen.

1. During Virtual Flight, you can fly over the landscape by moving your mouse cursor to the left or the right. This lets you fly in either direction, until you see a place where you want to land.

  • Move the cursor to the left or the right, and hold it there until you see a potential landing place. Then move the cursor to the middle of the screen. If an Eye cursor appears, then you may click to land.

  • Notice that the cursor will change to a bird when flying left or right. It will change to an eye when you are at a place where you are able to begin an activity. It will change to a tiet (the symbol of Isis) when the face of Isis appears in the clouds. If you are not in an area where you can land, then the cursor displays an X.

  • The flight paths are not circular rings, but irregular closed loops. Be patient during flight until you see the place you want to land.

  • Listen to the background sounds as you fly. These sounds tell you when you have reached a landing zone. Furthermore, the sounds tell you which landing zone you have reached.

  • It doesn't matter where on the screen you click during Virtual Flight. You will land at an activity that corresponds to the sounds you hear.

  • There are several flight rings which zoom you in or out through the landscape. You can change flight rings by clicking on the blue triangles at the top and bottom of the inner screen frame. This allows you to move closer to the ground and the pyramid - or to move farther away. But the closer rings don't always provide access to all sites. To ensure access to all sites, remain on the outermost ring. (Click the blue triangle at the bottom to reach the outer rings.) Likewise, to reach Isis, you must be on the outermost ring.

2. When you click on certain activities, you step closer into your surrounding. To step back out (to leave the activity), click on the blue triangle at the bottom of the frame. Repeat until the blue triangle no longer appears.

3. To leave the current area, click on the blue triangle until it disappears, and then search for the symbol of Isis imbedded in the landscape. By clicking on the tiet, or the Isis knot, you are transported to Virtual Flight. In this way, you can leave a location and return to the sky to explore new places.

4. To return to the Hall of the Guardians (Ra and Anubis), fly through Virtual Flight until the face of Isis appears in the clouds. Click on her face to be transported back to the gods.
