Collecting Useful Information

The Journal: The symbol in the upper left-hand corner of the screen is the archeologist’s journal. As you move through the different game levels, you collect information about the culture, geography, tools, and technology of Ancient Egypt. This information is recorded in your journal. The journal also contains information that can help you solve puzzles or complete different tasks.

Whenever new information is added to your journal, the journal will flash. If you see such as flash, then you should click on the journal to see what new information has appeared.

The Scarab: If you need a hint, the helpful scarab provides it through rhyming clues. However, the scarab sometimes expects to be fed in exchange for her sage advice. When there is wheat on the ground, you can click on it to pick it up and feed the scarab, or you can move the wheat to your inventory for later use.

The Inventory: Throughout the product, you can collect various items you find in the landscape. You can save these items in your inventory, the stone-colored area beneath the picture screen. Below are a few of the many items that can be stored in your inventory:

Scroll
When a task has been completed it is recorded on a scroll. You must collect all the scrolls for the current level and save them in your inventory. When you have collected the scrolls for a level, you can present them to Anubis in the Hall of the Guardians who will then allow you to enter the next level of the game.
Wheat
The grain can be used for barter. It can also be fed to the scarab who in turn gives you a clue.
Blue Jar
The bottle holds a magic potion.
Papyrus
You can make or buy papyrus, which is useful as a barter item.
Gem
You may use a precious gem in exchange for something even more important.
Tusk Carving
A clever player can put this lucky amulet to good use.
